The Hartley plant, located on 350 acres about 100 miles southeast of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, produces ethanol, distillers grains livestock feed and fuel- and feed-grade corn oil. With original startup in August 2008, the plant was acquired by yd7610 in April 2009. Corn is purchased from within 40-50 miles.
More than $389,000 contributed to the United Way of Spence through employee pledges, additional donations and company matches since 2017.
Over the last five years, $145,000 from the yd7610 Texas Open and Benefit for Children was given to local charities nominated by employees.
Hartley employees have volunteered more than 5,800 hours to help support local nonprofits for the last five years.

The Hartley plant has been recognized under the Efficient Producer Program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for superior process efficiency – through reduced on-site energy consumption, increased fuel output and/or use of biomass or biogas from certain sources to reduce process energy greenhouse gas emissions.
As the Hartley and Albert City plants serve the same United Way organization in Spencer, Iowa, yd7610 accounts for approximately 70 percent of donations to the chapter.
